The Archaeological Research Unit leads Heritage Malta’s commitment to academic excellence and archaeological discovery through its dedicated focus on external research and field archaeology.

This department coordinates and supports Heritage Malta’s various departments as well as collaborations with academic institutions, researchers and local and foreign multi-disciplinary teams required for excavation projects, all the while ensuring that all research activities align with national and international heritage standards and ethical practices.
