Heritage Malta, in collaboration with the Ministry for Culture, Lands and Local Government, hosted the Ministry\u2019s second Information Technology Forum for senior IT officials and representatives from its various agencies and departments. The event served as a platform to strengthen collaboration across entities, share best practices, and showcase Heritage Malta\u2019s growing leadership in the digital transformation of Malta\u2019s cultural heritage landscape.<\/p>

Following a workshop at Fort St Angelo, delegates visited Heritage Malta\u2019s Head Office in Bighi, Kalkara, where they were given guided tours of the agency\u2019s newly established data centre, the Technology and Experience Development (TED) Unit\u2019s offices and scanning laboratories, and the Diagnostic Science Laboratories. The visit provided first-hand insight into Heritage Malta\u2019s invaluable work in digitisation, conservation science, and technological innovation.<\/p>

The new data centre at Bighi, together with a mirrored facility being set up at the Grand Master\u2019s Palace in Valletta, ensures secure storage and redundancy for the nation\u2019s expanding digital heritage collection.<\/p>

Heritage Malta\u2019s commitment to digital excellence extends beyond infrastructure. The agency has also just launched eMuseum, a dynamic digital platform giving the public direct access to thousands of artefacts from Malta\u2019s national collection. Through eMuseum, users can explore objects online, discover their stories, and curate personal collections \u2013 another innovative step towards the agency\u2019s mission of making Malta\u2019s history truly accessible to everyone, everywhere.<\/p>

Earlier this year, Heritage Malta was also officially certified as Europeana\u2019s 44th Aggregator and Malta\u2019s National Aggregator for Cultural Heritage, allowing Maltese collections to be viewed on Europeana, the European Union\u2019s main cultural heritage platform.<\/p>

Through these achievements in digital innovation, Heritage Malta ensures that our islands\u2019 past continues to be preserved, experienced, and celebrated in the future.<\/p>
